Taking Time to Talk and Listen

In a perfect world every child would return home from school to be greeted with a plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, a tall glass of cold milk, and a mother ready to take the time to talk and listen about her child’s day. We do not live in a perfect world, so you can skip the cookies and the milk, if you like, but don’t skip the “take the time to talk and listen.”

A Day at the Vanderbilt Mansion

I spent the day at the Vanderbilt Mansion with my sister and her family. We enjoyed spending time with them so much. Its not something we do often. Here are some great pictures.

I passed my LPN Entrance exam.
I am home to care for my family each day.

A toddler who put herself to nap 2 days in a row. ( that's a big one ;)

Im back....

Well,I have really missed blog land...Facebook really doesn't do it for me and I miss all my blogger friends and their crafty ideas, recipe's and thoughts. I was delightfully surprised to see my sister's blog has blossomed into a wonderful place full of our family recipe's and her creativity. Check it out http://www.sundayscottage.blogspot.com/. I have also been addicted to Scrabble with Friends on my new nook and cant seem to put it down. I have read The Hunger Games in two weeks ad Im on to the second book Catching Fire. In other news I closed my gift shop....way too much stress...I took my LPN exam last Wed....praying I passed and have been spending time reading, cooking and enjoying the kids.

A Sister....

I was thinking of my sister this morning and what a strong, inspirational and great woman she is.

My sister is extremely talented, she makes beautiful jewelry, stained glass mirrors with vintage postcards within them. She takes care of a husband who is ill and never complains. My sister is a calm and understanding mother to sometimes challenging budding teenagers. She has a great love of animals and always shows compassion.

The thing that amazes me about my sister is that she always has a grace and a calmness about her. She always treats people with kindness and respect no matter the circumstances. Her demeanor reminds me a lot of my mother.

I may not always say it but I really love and look up to my sister and I hope she knows I think she is great. I love You. Your Sister.
