A Trip to Our Backyard.

My husband took our girls on a hike the other day behind our house. They were gone for three hours and even had a picnic. God Bless my husband for the Lord know I could never do that. He is such a wonderful father.

Do you want to see what I have been doing the last three days?

Making Candy. My first time doing such a project but I really enjoyed it. I bought the molds, the chocolate and got to work. I colored them with different food coloring. I decided to make a gift to celebrate the special day fast approaching and for each visitor to take home a little something. I think they turned out really nice. There are Ducks, Blocks, Choo Choo Trains and Rattles. I also added a few hearts and Roses since her middle name will be Rose and I already love her so much.

Fancy Cupcakes

My daughters Birthday is in a few weeks so I decided to practice making fancy cupcakes since I have never done it before with colored icing. I brought out my decorating tips, food coloring and went to work. Three things I learned in the process of making cupcakes...

1. Always practice first-it was a lot harder to make decorated cupcakes then I anticipated.

2. If your going to frost them with any type of fancy frosting make three times the amount of frosting you think you need. It took a lot more to frost the cupcakes with designs rather then with a knife.

3. Take pictures before you set them on the table. By the time I thought of the pictures this morning there was one lonely cupcake left. I guess that ones for me :)

Roomies No More

Yesterday was Bittersweet. My children no longer share a room. I felt sad separating them but at the same time I felt they needed their own space for their special things. Not to mention the fact that they are different schedules with Sofia now being in first grade and Laina not in school yet. To my surprise bedtime was so easy. We tucked them in said our prayers and never heard from them the rest of the night. I couldn't believe it for there is usually an hour of fooling around and me saying "stop talking" "stay in your own bed" et cetera. My husband and I were so thrilled we took some picures of them fast asleep and giggled to each other.

Hunger in my own Community.

I was in the grocery store today and a girl I have seen around town who is from Guatemala approached me and said hello. Now, I don't know her well but I could tell she was in need. She has a 5 year old little girl who goes to Kindergarten but there English is poor. She ended up asking me for some milk or whatever I could provide.

I felt so sad when she told me the story of how she cant find work and is really suffering. How she goes to Church and prays for God to help her and her child. She has a boyfriend in town but he drinks excessively and she is afraid to live with him for fear of him hurting her daughter or herself. For now she has a safe place to go. I asked her to take me there and show me where she lives. I will tell you, I haven't felt that bad in a long time. She shares an apartment with six grown men. Three to a room and her and her daughter in another. I asked her if she is scared with all those men there --alone. She said no because none of them drink and they all attend church. Her room was so tiny and freezing cold with no windows and a bed for her and her daughter. Actually mattresses on the floor. I saw no toys, no furniture or food. The saddest part is she has been living there for six years.

I cant believe how little some have and how much I have and don't even realize it. It opened my eyes and made me so thankful. I went home and called the Catholic Charities Nun in Town and we got her a months worth of food and I also got her Milk, eggs, peanut butter, cheese and bread. She can go monthly to the food pantry so I set it up for her. She was thrilled to have food in her home as I was thrilled for her. Boy, that made me think.

Feeling Sentimental.

I have been feeling very sentimental these days. Its probably the pregnancy causing these emotions. I have 28 days left and I am happy and sad at the same time. I'm thrilled for things to come and trying to enjoy every minute but also sad for this will most likely be my last baby. Here are some pictures from the last week or so.
